Social Media and AI

An interview with the cofounder of the Center for Humane Technology, Tristan Harris, is from Mindfulness, AI, and the Future of Humanity in New York City. They discussed many things but a few key topics were... the marshmellow study done with kids. Asking them to delay satisfaction of eatting one immediately to have two later. Tristan talks about two kinds of people today - one is the one marshmellow and ther other two. Also he said, "one of the biggest issues with social media is overuse late at night. You know you're super depleated, lonely, and your self-control is way down and it's one in the morning and you get lost scrolling..." One expert said to help prevent doom scrolling is to delay how quickly feeds upload. Amazon said their biggest revenue loss is when their website is slow. Because screen time limits dont work when you're in the heat of something you're hooked into. For more information watch https://youtu.be/ZFF7WdWGric
